2009 TOUR PROGRAMS

New Denver and its people have a lot to offer in terms of the arts, but this summer I have designed some new and interesting tours to make use of our wild, wonderful and precious natural environment. In the Kootenays we have a further wealth of alternative knowledge that we are willing to share, in the form of personal human well being. With increasing stress-levels worldwide, some specific relaxation and meditational techniques would complement the perfect home stay holiday in New Denver. This includes some personal pampering, of course!

TOUR HISTORY

New Denver English Theme Tours is operated by Elly Scheepens. Elly is a mother, an artist (potter/sculptress) and a volunteer community builder. She is of Dutch origin and spent 10 years in the city before discovering New Denver in 1992.

To her, the beauty of living in New Denver is unique and inspiring. She founded the Tours nine years ago with her Japanese friends Taeko Miwa and Eriko Tanaka. Since then, dozens of guests from all over the world have enjoyed the tours, including children.

The natural environment, with clean water and air, and the quality of life bring out a slower pace of being-ness, which is in strong contrast with modern urban life. The experience of tranquillity and realness gives one a different perspective on life.

The Tours offer you the opportunity to taste and share New Denver and its people in a fun, educational way. To be in an inviting English-speaking homestay/B&B environment enhances your conversational level of English significantly in one week.

By sharing this unique environment, we in New Denver feel part of the global village.
